Prevention of Publication of Objectionable Matter Ordinance, 1975Ordinance · 1975

(1) No newspaper, news-sheet, book or other document which has been declared to be forfeited under any of the provisions of this Ordinance and no unauthorised newspaper or unauthorised news-sheet shall be transmitted by post.

Prohibition of transmission by post of certain documents.

(2) Any officer in charge of a post office authorised by the Central Government in this behalf may detain in course of transmission by post any article other than a letter which he suspects to contain any document as is mentioned in sub-section (7) and shall deliver all such articles to such officer as the Central Government may appoint in this behalf.

(3) If the officer to whom any article is delivered under sub-section

(2) is satisfied that the article contains any stfch document as Is mentioned in sub-section (/)> he may pass such orders as to the disposal of Sic. 1] THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY 757 the article and its contents as he deems proper, and, if he is not satisfied, he sjiall return the article to tne post omce for transmission to tne addressee.
