The Protection of Human Rights Ordinance, 1993Ordinance · 1993

(1) Ijti this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires,—

(0) ''Member" means a Member of the Commission or. of the State Comtnifl^on, as the case may be, and includes the Chairperson;

(h) "National Commission for iMinojfi&es" means the National Commission for Minorities constitutesi:t»j&er section 3 of the National Coajmission for Minorities Act, 19S2j , - •

(1) "National Commission for the 'Scheduled Castes and '~$che- ^ 4uled Tribes" means-the National 'Commission fon the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribjs referred to in article 338 of the-Constitution;

(j) "National ^Commission for W«m*B." means the National Commission for Women constituted" under section 3 of the National ---OomjKtesiQn for Wgpwui Act, l{$0;- - -- - - - -" 1 (k) '•notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette;

SEC. 1] THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY 3 45 of i860.

(m) "public servant" shall have the meaning assigned to it in section 21 of the Indian Penal Code;

(n) "State Commission" means a State Human Rights Commission constituted under section 21.

(2) Any reference in this Ordinance to a law, which is not in force in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, shall in relation to that State be construed as a reference to a corresponding law if any, in force in that State.
