Section 4: Offence under the Act to be cognizable

The Puducherry Gift Goods (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1964Union territory Act of Puducherry · Act 17 of 1964

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Central Act V of 1898), any offence under this Act shall be deemed to be a cognizable offence within the meaning of that Code.

(2) No Court below that of a Magistrate of the First Class shall try any offence under this Act.
