The Puducherry (Public) Health Act, 1973Union territory Act of Puducherry · Act 5 of 1974

(1) In such areas as may be specified by the Government in this behalf, the supply of water for drinking and other domestic purposes shall be effected by pipe system, so that every house has within it or within a reasonable distance an available source of water supply for the use of inmates of the house.

(2) In such areas as may be specified by the Government along with the piped system of water supply, an effective system of drainage shall also be provided.
