Section 10: Birth certificate for admission

The Puducherry Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2011Union territory Rules of Puducherry · 2009

Wherever a birth certificate under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Certification Act, 1886 is not available, any one of the following documents shall be deemed to be proof of age of the child for the purpose of admission in schools:

(a) Hospital record;

(b) Anganwadi record;

(c) Declaration of the date of birth of the child by the parent or guardian through an affidavit which also contains a declaration that a birth certificate as mentioned above is not available for the child, that the given date of birth is correct to the best of his/her knowledge and that no change in the date of birth will be sought for in future.
