The employer shall ensure at a construction site of a building or other construction work that a trench or excavation is protected against falling of a person by suitable measures, if the depth of such trench or Section 40 (2) (q) Section 40 (2) (q) Section 40 (2) (q) 57 excavation exceeds one and a half metres and such protection is provided by sound material to provide safety in all the three directions, where such depth exceeds four metres.
