( l) No person shall be recruited to the Service by direct appointment, if he is less than eighteen years or is more than thirty years ofage in the case of non-technical posts and th irty three years in the case oftechnical posts on the Ist day of January of the year immediately preceding the last date fixed for subm ission ofapplications by the Commission or the Board, as the case may be or unless he is within such range of minimum and maximum age limits as may be specifically fixed by the Govemment from iime to time :
Provided that where different lower and upper age linlits have been specifically prescribed for posts in the Service Rules, these limits shall be made applicable for appointlnent to such posts: '
Provided further that the rpper age limit may be relaxed up to forty-five years in the case of persons already in the employment of the punjab I 365 Governnlenl, other State Covernnrent or lhe Covernnlent of Ind ia.
Provided llrlher rlrar in the case of candidares belonging to Scheduled Castes and other Backrvard Class, the upper age lirnh shall be srrch as may be fixed b1,the governmelt fronr tinre lo tinre.
(2) ln the case oiex-servicemen, the upper age limit shall be such as has heen prcscribed in the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-servicernen Rules, l9g2 as arnended liom time to tirne.
(3) ln the case ofappointment on cornpassionate grounds on priority basis, the upper age limit shall be such as rnay be specitically fixcd by the Governmenl front time to lime-
(4) In the case ofappointment ofa War llero, who has been dischaqged from delence services'or paramilitary forces on account ofdisability suffered by him or his rvidow or dependent member ofhis family, the upper age limit shall be sLrch as may be specifically fixed by the Covernment from time to time.l t
