Punjab Act No. 25 of 1978 An Act to amend the laws relating to the grant of allowances and other anenities to the Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Ministers, Deputy Speaker, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Parliamentary Secretaries and other members of the State Legislature.
BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Twenty ninth Year of the Reputblic of India as follows
1. This Act may be called the Punjab Legislators (Modification Allowances and Other Amenities) Act, 1978.

2. In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker's and Deputy Spcaker's Amendment Salaries Act, 1937, Priçe of Short title Free transit by railway.

Provided that if the journ:y is performed by an air-conditioned railway coach or by air he shall be paid an amount equivalent to one first-class fare for such journey and if he is accom panied by his spouse or any other person to look after and assist him, he shall be paid an amount cquivalent to two first-class fares for such journey."

2. Amendment of the Salaries and Allowances of Deputy Ministers, Punjab Act, 1956,
(b) in the proviso to sub-section (2) of scction 4-A, for the worda 6"one hundred rupees', the words three hndred rupees siall be substituted ;
(c) for clause (a) of sub-scction (7) of section 4-B, the following clause shall be substituted, namely:
<(a) two free non-transferable first-class passes which shall entitle him and his spouse or any other pcrson accompanying him to look after and assist him to travel at any time by anv railwey in India, provided the aggregate distance so travclled in any financial year on these passes does not excecd twenty Providcç that if the journey is pcrformed by n air-conditioned railway coach or by air Ihe shall be paid an amount equiva lent to one first-class fare for each suchjourney and if he is accompanied by his' spouse or any other person to look after and assist him, he shall be paid an amount equivalent to two first-class fares for such journey ; and ".
4. In the East Punjab Ministers' Salaries Act, 1947,�
(a) in sub-section (4) of section 2, the words "if such facility is available at such place at normal rates and without incurring any additional cost" shall be omitted and in the proviso, for the words fifty rupees, the words "three hundred rupees" shall be substituted;
(b) after section 2-B, the following section shall be inserted, namely :
"2-BB. Each Minister shall be provided with two free non transferable first class passes, valid during the term of his Free transit office, which shall entitle him and his spouse or by railway. any other person accompanying him to look after and assist him to travel at any time by any railway in India, provided the aggregate distance so travelled in any financial year on these passes does not exceed twenty thousand kilometres:

Amendment of 5. In the Salarics and Allowances of Deputy Ministers, Punjab Act, the Salarics and 1956,— Allowances of Deputy Ministers, ’ Punjab Act, - 10:6. (a) in sub-section (1) of section 5-A, the words “if such citi is available at such place at normal rates and without incurring any additional cost” shall be omitted and in the proviso, for the words “fifty rupees”, the words “three hundred rupees’ shall be substituted § 3 after section 5-A, the following section namely - shall be inserted, "5-B.
