Section 5: Quantity for which permit will be issued

The Punjab Opium Prohibition Rules, 1959State Rules of Punjab · 1914

A permit in form O.P.1. shall be granted in respect of such quantity of opium as may be prescribed by the Medical Board or the Medical Officer, as the case may be, in accordance with the orders and directions issued by the Excise Commissioner from time to time :

Provided that the aggregate quantity of opium purchased by a permit holder in a month shall not exceed 24 grams and the quantity possessed at any one time shall not exceed 3 grams or as prescribed from time to time by the Excise Commissioner.
