Section 64

The Punjab Prisons and Correctional Services Act, 2026State Act of Punjab · Act 9 of 2026

(1) Prisoners may communicate with their visitors, namely family members, relatives, and legal counsel through physical or virtual mode, under proper supervision and monitoring of prison officer(s) and prison staff. Under special circumstances, the officer-in-charge of prison may allow any other person, whose name is not mentioned in the initial list submitted by the prisoner.

Visitors to prisoners shall be verified or authenticated through documentary and biometric identification.

(2) The name, address, photograph, Aadhaar authentication and biometric identification of each visitor to the prisoner shall be entered into record, as may be prescribed.

(3) Foreign prisoners may communicate with their family members, legal counsel and consular representatives, as may be prescribed.
