Section 4: Form of entry permit granted by the officer incharge of a Quarantine Camp

(1) The officer incharge of the Quarantine Camp shall· detain the following category of animals:-

(a) which are suffering from any of the scheduled disease; or PUNJAB GOVT. GAZ. (EXTRA), JULY 26, 2013 1003 (SRVN 4,1935 SAKA)

(b) which have come into contact with or have been kept in the proximity of an animal infected with a scheduled disease; or

(c) transported by the incharge of the check post as detai led in sub rule(4)ofrule3; or

(d) of the species while exiting from the infected area as per the provisions contained in section 10 of the Act and shall be subjected to a quarantine of minimum period offourteen days in a Quarantine Camp. The Competent Officer may decide, if the animal is to be retained for a period of more than fourteen days, based on epidemiological and scientific basis.

(2) The officer incharge of the Quarantine Camp shall give an official acknowledgement to the owner of the animals for the detained in the Quarantine Camp in Form B.

(3) During quarantine, the animals shall be identified by Ear-tagging Or by inserting microchip or by any other suitable method bearing a unique identification number/mark (for cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig, donkey, horse or any other animal).Animals shall be vaccinated against the scheduled disease and provide with veterinary treatment, if required, and shall be examined regularly for any scheduled disease. If animals are vaccinated, the owner shall be provided with a vaccination certificate as required under section 9 of the Act.

(4) The cost of maintenance and vaccination of the animals during the quarantine shall be fixed by the Director from time to time and shall be borne by the owner of the animals.

(5) After successful quarantine, the officer incharge of the quarantine camp shall release or hand over the animal to the owner of the animals and also grant the Quarantine Release Permit in Form-C under his signature. Form-C shall also serve as Entry Permit as required under sub-section (2) of section 15 of the Act.
