BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Sixty-second Year of the Republic of India, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Punjab Technical University (Amendment) Act, 2011
(2)It shall come into force at once. Short title and Commencement
2. In the Punjab Technical University Act, 1996 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in section 14, in sub-section (5),-
(a) in serial No. (6), at the end, the word "and" shall be omitted; and
(b) (in serial No. (7), at the end, for the sign ".", the sign and word ";and" shall be substituted, and thereafter the following serial No. and entries shall be inserted, namely :- "(7-A) Director of Indian Institution of Technology, Ropar.". Amendment in section 14 of Punjab Act 1 of
1997.
3. In the principal Act, in section 15, in sub-section (2), for serial No. (6) and the entries relating thereto, the following serial No. an entries shall be substituted namely :- "(6)Twenty Principals of colleges affiliated to the University by rotation:
Provided that no Principal shall be re-nominated unless all the principals have been nominated atleast once;". Amendment in section 15 of Punjab Act 1 of

BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Sixty-fifth Year of the Republic of India, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Punjab Technical University
(2) It shall come into force at once. Short title and Commencement Amendment in the long title of Punjab Act 1 of 1997.
2. In the Punjab Technical University Act, 1996 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in the long title, for the words “THE PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY”, the words “THE I.K. GUJRAL PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY” shall be substituted. Amendment in section 1 of Punjab Act 1 of 1997.
3. In the principal Act, in section 1, in sub-section (1), for the words “the Punjab Technical University”, the words “the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University” shall be substituted. Amendment in section 2 of Punjab Act 1 of 1997.
4. In the principal Act, in section 2, in clause (f), for the words “the Punjab Technical University”, the words “the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University” shall be substituted. Amendment in section 3 of Punjab Act 1 of 1997.
5. In the principal Act, in section 3, in sub-section (1), for the words “the Punjab Technical University”, the words “the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University” shall be substituted. Amendment in section 14 of Punjab Act 1 of 1997.
6. In the principal Act, in section 14, in sub-section (5) in clause (1), for the words “the Punjab Technical University”, the words “the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University” shall be substituted. STATEMENT OF OBJECTS & REASONS The Punjab Technical University Act, 1996 has stood the test of time and the State has largely achieved the objectives for which it was enacted. Hon'ble Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral was the 12th Prime Minister of our Country, who was nationally and Internationally renowned personality. He belongs to a family of Freedom Fighters. Due to lifelong emotionally attachment with Punjab he did many works for the betterment of Punjab. Keeping in view, it is decided to keep the name of Punjab Technical University Jalandhar in the name of Former Prime Minister to give him tribute on behalf of State of Punjab. The proposed change is as follows: (a.a) Rename the Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar as I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
