(i) Where the nature of offence does not warrant cancellation or suspension of license or if the offence has been committed under Rule, 3 Licensing Officers may (a) forfeit the unaccounted timber (b) and or impose a penalty 1[upto Rs.500/— for the first default, upto Rs.1000/- for the second default and upto Rs.2000/— for each subsequent default]
(ii) If any person contravenes or attempts to contravene or abets the contravention of any of the provisions of these Rules he shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both and in the case of a continuing contravention with an additional fine which may extend to 2[Rs.1000/— for the second default and Rs. 2000/- for subsequent default"].The unaccounted timber shall be confiscated.
(iii) (a) If any person when required by these rules or by any order under these rules to make any statement or furnish any information makes any statement or furnishes any information which is false in any material particular and which he knows or has reason to believe to be false or does not believe to be true or, (b) makes any such statement as aforesaid in any book, account, record, declaration 3[....] or other document which he is required to maintain or furnish under these rules, he shall be punishable with imprisonment of a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.
