Section 44: Temporary leave from word

(1) The [corrective settlement] Manager may, subject to the provisions of sub-rule (3), give temporary leave, that is exemption from work, to a [registered offender] for not more than 3 whole days in a month. Where leave is to be granted for only a part of a day, he may grant such leave to a [registered offender] not more than 5 times in a month.

(2) Where leave from work is applied for by a [registered offender] and the leave to be granted is beyond the powers of the [corrective settlement] Manager as defined by sub-rule (1), the case shall be referred to the Superintendent of Police concerned, who may grant such leave subject to the provisions of sub-rule (3).

(3) The total number of [registered offender] on leave under this rule on a particular day shall not exceed 5 per cent of the total number of [registered offender] in the [corrective settlement].
