(1) The Allotting Authority shall prepare a site plan of saline areas available for allotment and submit the same to the Industries and Commerce Department through the Commissioner, Industries and Commerce. The Commissioner, Industries and Commerce shall demarcate plots of suitable size depending upon the density and availability of brine:
Provided that the State Government may reserve any saline area for allotment to the Central Government, State Government and Public Sector Undertakings.

(2) When an area declared as a saline area under rule 4, subsequently becomes unfit or economically unviable for salt production or if any area is required at any time by the State Government for any public purpose, the State Government may, on recommendation of the Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, rescind the notification issued for this purpose under rule 4 and all allotments made shall stand cancelled without any compensation and the area shall stand transferred to the Revenue Department.]
