Section 5: Objects of University

The University shall be deemed to have been established and incorporated for the purpose, among others, of- (a) to develop the University into a national centre of teaching, training and research in the field of Rehabilitation; (b) to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in the field of Rehabilitation; (c) to develop professionals with excellence; (d) to facilitate and promote studies, research and extension work in the emerging areas including rehabilitation courses with focus on Benchmark Disabilities, rehabilitation engineering/technology, community based rehabilitations, rehabilitation psychology, speech therapy, rehabilitation therapy, vocational counseling and rehabilitation, Yoga and Panchakarma therapy, sociology/social work/administration etc. through conventional teaching and distance education system; (e) to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge on disability and related issues, including general education by regular and distance mode of education; (f) to develop in the students and research scholars a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of disability by developing skills in regard to special education, vocational and general education; (g) to empower physically challenged students and provide them higher education in an accessible environment alongwith other students; (h) to hold examinations and confer degrees and other academic distinctions; and (i) to do all such things as are incidental, necessary or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objectives of the University.
