Section 386: Property of escaped prisoners

The Rajasthan Prisons Rules, 2022State Rules of Rajasthan · 1894

(1) The property of an escaped prisoner shall be retained for one year from the date of his escape and if he is not recaptured within that period his property shall be sold and the proceeds with any cash belonging to the prisoner shall be paid into the treasury as unclaimed property.

(2) The Jailor shall be responsible for seeing that the property handed over to a prisoner on release, sent with him on transfer, made over to the police for disposal on a prisoner’s death or sold in the case of an escaped prisoner, corresponds with the record of what was taken under charge.
