Section 47: Duty of Jailor on admission of prisoner

(1) It shall be the duty of the Jailor on the admission of a prisoner, to satisfy himself that the warrants are in order, to take from the prisoner all money, jewellery and other articles found upon him and all clothing not required in jail and to see that the same are properly entered on the prisoner’s warrant.

(2) When the property consists of money, the amount shall be entered in the Cash Book and Private Cash Register and the Jailor shall be responsible for the safe custody of prisoner’s property.

(3) The Jailor shall present the prisoners as soon as possible before the Superintendent and the Medical Officer.
