Section 557: Telephonic and electronic communication

(1) The Superintendent may allow a prisoner the use of telephones or electronic modes of communication on payment, to contact his family and lawyers, from time to time, wherever such facility is available.

(2) The prisoner can use this facility under the supervision of a prison officer to be designated by the Superintendent.

(3) While permitting a prisoner the use of such facilities, the Superintendent shall ensure that such permission is not given to prisoners who have a record of unruly behaviour and bad conduct.

(4) The Telephone Register shall be maintained for the prisoners in the specified Form.
