Section 563: Superintendent to forward petitions of appeal

(1) Under section 383 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act No. 2 of 1974), an appellant, who is in prison, may present his petition or appeal, and the documents accompanying it, to the Superintendent who shall, thereupon, countersign and forward it to the proper appellate court at Government cost.

(2) All such appeals shall always be sent by registered/speed post.

(3) No prisoner or officer of the Jail shall prepare, write out or submit any appeal or petition on behalf of any prisoner without the previous permission in writing of the Superintendent.
