And whereas, further references have been made by the Central Government to the said Tribunal on the 19th August, 1987, requiring explanation and guidance on the report aforesaid, in terms of sub-section (3) of section 5 of the said Act;
And whereas, considering the enormous exercise undertaken by the said Tribunal in completing its further report, the Central Government extended from time to time the period of making the said report, till the 5th day of August, 2018;
And whereas, the Central Government, keeping in view the exigencies of the work involved, as pointed out by the said Tribunal, considers it necessary to extend the said period for one year after the 5th day of August, 2018.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-section (3) of section 5 of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act, 1956 (33 of 1956), the Central Government hereby further extends the period, within which the said Tribunal may forward its report on the references so made, to the Central Government till the 5th day of August, 2019, and for that purpose, makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of Water Resources, number S.O.
905(E), dated the 5th August, 2003, namely:- In the said notification, in the last paragraph, for the words, figures and letters “till the 5th day of August, 2018”, the words, figures and letters “till the 5th day of August, 2019” shall be substituted.
