The proposal for recognising an institution of higher learning for the purposes of the Act and the process for approving such recognition shall be in the following manner, namely:- 6 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART III—SEC. 4]
(a) an institution seeking recognition in India for its academic programmes falling under the purview of the Act and the Statutes and Ordinances made thereunder shall forward the requisite information in such format as provided in the schedule annexed to these regulations;
(b) proposals for such recognition shall be received by the Registrar of the Regional Centre throughout the year and shall be presented to the Board of Studies in its next available meeting;
(c) the Board of Studies shall review the proposal for the eligibility of the institution as a Recognised Centre of the Regional Centre within India in accordance with the provisions of the Act and the Statutes and Ordinances made thereunder, and the desirability, viability, and conformity of the proposed academic programme in meeting the academic requirements of the Regional Centre;
(d) the Board of Studies may on its own review such proposal, or may consider the report of a panel that it may appoint to inspect such institution and interact with the proposed faculty;
(e) the recommendations of the Board of Studies shall be presented to the Board for approval in the next available meeting, and the approval of the Board or otherwise to the proposal for the recognition shall be notified by the Registrar of the Regional Centre to the applying institutions, and subsequent to such approval, the name of the institute shall be displayed on the Regional Centre website as an institution recognised by the Regional Centre; and
(f) following such notification, the Recognised Centre shall enter into a written memorandum of understanding with Regional Centre, and such memorandum shall specify the objectives, needs and specific activities covered under the collaboration, which shall be signed by the Executive Director of the Regional Centre and the Head of the Recognised Centre.
