(1) If the Commanding Officer should be absent for the night or by reason of sickness or for other cause, has cesed to exercise command, an Executive officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Commander or if no such officer is borne, the Executive officer of the ship shall sleep on board.
Provided that the provisions of this regulation may be relaxed by the Commanding Officer of the ship concerned, in the case of ships of the size of frigate and below and, with the special permission in writing of the senior Naval Officer present, in the case of other ships.
(2) No other officer shall remain out of his ship for the night without the previous sanction of the Commanding Officer.
