Suspension of an officer (independent of arrest) may be ordered by the Commanding Officer (of or above the rank of Lieutenant commander) of the ship to which the officer belongs or by any other superior authority: -
(a) When the officer submits his case for investigation;
(b) in any case in which the officer’s character or conduct as an officer an a gentleman is impugned;
(c) when the officer is charged with any offence triable by court-martial; or
(d) when any criminal proceedings are pending against him in an ordinary criminal court.
