Persons under sentence of imprisonment or detention, while on passage in Indian Naval Ship, shall not be called upon to do any duty except in case of emergent need and they may be dealt with as prisoners at large (kept in open custody), when the circumstances permit, but they shall be restrained or confined, if necessary, for safe custody or to prevent further misconduct.
