(1) During the full period of his service an employee may be granted special leave on private affairs for a period not exceeding 360 days. Special leave may not be availed of if ordinary leave is admissible;
Provided that an employee may be granted special leave if he is suffering from a disease requiring prolonged treatment and he has no ordinary leave and sick leave to his credit and is also not eligible.
(2) In case an employee is absent from duty on account of quarantine, the Board may, at the request of the employee, treat such absence upto a maximum of 90 days as ordinary, sick or special leave if such leave is otherwise permissible. Special leave under the sub-regulation may be availed of even if ordinary leave is admissible.
Pay during special leave
44. Special leave shall be on half leave pay, which shall be reduced, except with the special sanction of the Chairman, to one quarter of leave pay after six months.
