(2) SEEDLESS TAMARIND GRADING AND MAllKING RULES Short title and application:- (1) Theseirules may be , called the Seedless Tamarind Grading and Marking Rules, 1971. l ,r They shall apply to seedless Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) produced in India. Definitionsz— In these rules, unless the context otherwise required — ‘ . “Agricultural Marketing Adviser” means the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India s “Schedule" means the Schedule..appended to these rules. i Grade designationsa: Grade designations to indicate the quality of seedless tamarind shall be as set Out in column lofthc Schedule I & 11. Definition of qualiyz- The quality of Seedless Tamarind indicated by the respective grade designations shall be as set out against each grade’ designation in column 2 to 6 of the Schedulel and 11. Grade designation arks:- The grade designation mark in the ease of seedless tamarind shall consist of a‘ label specifying the Igrade designation and a design approved by the Agri ultural Marketing Adviser. Method of Marking — (l) The grade designation mark shall be securely affi ed to each container in a manner approved by the Agripultural Marketing Adviser. .In addition to the grade designation mark, each container shall be clearly marked with such particulars and in such' mann- as may be specified by the 3, Agriculture Marketirig Adviser.
(3) ‘An authorized packer may after obtaining the prior approval of the Agr culture Marketing Adviser, mark his private trade mark on a container, in a manner approved by the said officer, provided that the private ' trade mark does not represent a quality or grade of V seedless tamarind different from that indicated by the grade designation mark affixed to the container in accordance with these rules.

(b) (C) An authorized packer shall observe instructions regarding , Method of Packingz- (1) Seedless tamarind shall be packed in1~ polythene bags of 500 gms. and 1 Kg; closely woven bamboo baskets, preferably lined with polythene or palmyra mat, of 25 kgs‘. and 50 kgs. sound gunny bags, preferably lined with polythene, of 10 kgs. and 50 kgs; wooden boxes, lined with palmyra mats, of 25kgs. and 50 kgs. in any other types of containers and /cr sizes with the prior approval of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorized by him in this regard._ The container shall be sound, clean dry and free from insect infestation or fungus contamination and from any undesirable smell. , 5 _ , _ The container shall he'securely’elosed 'and sealed in , manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing - Adviser. ‘ , Each container shall contain seedless tamarind of one' grade designation only. Special conditions of Certificate of Authorization:- In addition to the conditions specified in rule 4 of the General Grading and Marketing Rules, l937, the ‘ following special conditions shall be served by authorized packer to the satisfaction of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser, namely :— An authorized packer shall make securing arrangements for testing seedless tamarind as may be prescribed from time to time by the Agricultural . Marketing Adviser. ., An authorized packer shall provide facilities to the Inspecting Officer authorized by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser in this behalf for San testing and , such other matters. ‘ the methods of sampling and,analysis, sealing and " marking die containers and maintenance of records ‘ which may be issued from time to time by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser. ‘
