The Capital University Act 2022State Act of Sikkim · Act 10 of 2022

(1) lf any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this Act, the State Government may, by order published in the Official Gazette, take steps not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, as appear to it to be necessary or expedient for removing the difficulty:

Provided that no notification order under sub-section (1) shall be made after the expiration of a period of 3 (three) years from the commencement of this Act.

(2) Every order made under this section shall, as soon as may be after it is made, be laid before the State Legislature.

SCHEDULE A

(1) Acquire not less than 7 (seven) acres of land for its main campus, within 3 (three) years after starting the functioning of the University. An integrated campus may have certain facilities in common such as auditorium, cafeteria, hostels, etc., and hence the land requirement may vary accordingly.

(2) Construct administrative building of at least 1,000 sq. mtrs., academic building including library, lecture theatres, laboratories of at least 10,000 sq. mtrs., adequate residential accommodations for teachers, guest houses, hostels which shall gradually be increased to accommodate at least 25"h of the total student strength in each course within 3 (three) years of its coming into existence. ln case the University is conducting professional programmes of study, prevailing norms and standards of respective statutory body shall be applicable. Existing institutes must undertake expansion/ renovation/restructuring to meet the prescribed norms of the State Government.
