Section 209: Safety Officer

Tamil Nadu Building And Other Construction Workers (Regulation Of Employment And Conditions Of Service) Rules,2006State Rules of Tamil Nadu · 1996

(l) in every establishments wherein 500 or more building workers are ordinarily emptied, the employer shall appoint safety officer as per the scale laid down in Schedule-VIII to these rules, such safety officers may be assisted by suitable and adequate staff.

(2) Duties, qualifications and the conditions of service of safety officers appointed under sub-rule (I) shall be as provided in Schedule-VIII to these rules.

(3) Wherever the number of workers employed by single employer is less than five hundred, such employers may form a group and appoint a common safety officer for such group of employers, with prior permission of chief inspector of building and other construction works.
