(1) The District Council shall consist of the following official and non-official members under clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 8A, namely:-

(2) The term of office of the non-official members of the District Council shall be for a period of three years.
(3) A non-official member of the District Council may, by writing under his hand and addressed to the Chairman of the District Council, resign from his membership in the District Council. Any vacancy in the case of nonofficial members caused by resignation or otherwise, shall be filled from the persons belonging to the same interests to which the member belonged and such person shall hold office so long as the member whose place he fills would have held office.
(4) The Government of Tamil Nadu may, after giving reasonable opportunity, remove any non-official member of the District Council at any time. The vacancy so created shall be filled in as indicated in sub-rule (3).
