Section 26: Identification of electors

Tamil Nadu Farmers' Management of Irrigation Systems Election Rules, 2003State Rules of Tamil Nadu · 2001

(1) When a person presents himself to vote and at any time before a ballot paper is supplied to him, he may be enquired if so required by a candidate put to such person either one or both of the following questions-

(a)are you the person enrolled as follows? (reading the whole entry from the roll);

(b)have you already voted at the present election at this Polling station or at any other Polling station?

(2) The person shall not be supplied with a ballot paper unless he gives an unqualified answer to the question or questions put to him In the affirmative to the first and in the negative to the second or such question.

(3) Except as mentioned herein, every person whose name is found on the electoral roll shall be entitled to be supplied with a ballot paper.
