Section 36: Continuation poll after adjournment

(1) Where an order is passed under clause (a) of sub-rule (3) under rule 35 or the continuation of the poll in the Polling station where the poll was adjourned shall be arranged to be proceeded afresh with all the packets containing the marked copy of the electoral roll ballot boxes and other materials required for the poll made by the Presiding Officer at the time of adjournment of poll.

(2) The packets shall be opened just before commencement of the continuation poll in the presence of such persons as may be present at the Polling station and the poll commenced precisely at the hour fixed therefor in the order passed by the Returning Officer under clause (a) of sub-rule(3) under rule 35.

(3) At the continuation poll, only such electors shall be allowed to vote who did not vote in the previous occasion.

(4) Those votes cast at such election shall not be counted until the continuation poll or fresh poll has been completed.-
