Section 13: Authorization for Erection, Maintenance, Inspection and Testing of lifts and escalators

(1) No person shall be authorized to carryout erection, maintenance, inspection and testing of lift or escalator under Section 10 of the Act, unless such person fulfils the qualifications and terms and conditions as specified in Annexure I.

(2) No person shall be authorized to carryout maintenance, inspection and testing of lift or escalator under Section 10 of the Act, unless such person fulfils qualifications and terms and conditions as specified in Annexure II.

(3) Person or a Company desirous of carrying out the work of erection and maintenance, inspection and testing of lift or escalator (OR) maintenance, inspection and testing of lift or escalator shall be required to obtain separate authorization for each purpose.

(4) Every authorization granted under this rule shall be valid for a period of one year and shall be renewable every year subject to compliance of terms and conditions specified for the purpose.
