Section 44: Purchase of opium by Government

The Tamil Nadu Narcotic Drugs Rules, 1985State Rules of Tamil Nadu · 1985

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in rule 4, opium may be purchased by the Government from the Government Opium Factory, Ghazipur, for use by the addicts registered with the Government. Such supplies may be made against annual requisition received from the Government, to the Officer(s) authorised by the Government to receive such opium.

(2) The opium received in accordance with sub-rule (1) may be kept in the District Treasury with proper security arrangement.
