Section 12: Appointment of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers

The Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Elections) Rules, 1995State Rules of Tamil Nadu · 1994

The Returning Officer shall appoint a Presiding Officer shall appoint a Presiding Officer and Polling Officers in accordance with the scale prescribed by the State Election Commission for each polling station;

Provided that 2[only officers and servants of the Government,] Local Authorities, Co-operative Institutions or Undertakings owned by the State or Central Government or aided schools may be appointed for this purpose.
