(1) It shall be the duty of the Board to provide for:-
(a) the supply of potable water, including pIanning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and management of water supply system; and
(b) sewerage, sewage disposal and sewage treatment works including planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and management of all sewerage and sewage treatment works;
in the Hyderabad Metropolitan area.

(2) For the efficient, discharge of the duties entrusted to it, the Board shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as are conferred or imposed by or under this Act:
Provided that no scheme, the estimated cost of which exceeds rupees ten crores shalI be carried out by the Board except with the previous approval of the Government.
11[(3) The Board shall involve Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and all the Municipalities falling within the area of the Board in the preparation and implementation of major water supply and sewerage projects.]
CHAPTER - III BOARD‟S FINANCE, ACCOUNTS AND AUDIT
8. For carrying on its operations under this Act the Board shaII levy rates, fees, tariffs, rentals, deposits, contributions and other charges, and may vary such rates, fees, tariffs, rentals, deposits, contributions and other charges from time to time in order to provide sufficient revenues,-
(a) to cover operating expenses, taxes and interest payments and to provide for adequate maintenance and depreciation;
(b) to meet repayments of loans and other borrowings;
(c) to finance normal year to year Improvements;
(d) to provide for further capital works as are necessary from time to time; and
(e) to provide for the cost of such other purposes beneficial to the promotion of water supply and construction
