(1) The nominated members of the Board shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of notification of their nomination; and the term of office of the co-opted Term of office of members of the Board and filling of casual vacancies among members.
6 [Act No. 2 of 1971] members of the Board shall terminate on the same date as that of the nominated members thereof:
Provided that the Government may, by notification and for reasons to be recorded therein, extend the term of office of all or any of the members of the Board including the Chairman and Vice-Chairman by such period not exceeding one year at a time as they may deem fit; so however, that the period so extended shall not in the aggregate exceed two years.
(2) No person who is nominated as a member of the Board as the holder of a particular appointment shall continue to be a member of the Board on his ceasing to be the holder of that particular appointment.
(3) The vacancies arising by efflux of time and all casual vacancies among the nominated or co-opted members of the Board may be filled at any time, but not beyond a period of three months from the date of occurrence of the vacancy, in the manner specified in section 3:
Provided that a person nominated or co-opted in a casual vacancy shall be a member only for the residue of the term for which the person in whose place he is nominated or co-opted would have been a member of the Board.
