(1) This Act may be called the 2Telangana Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1958.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the third November, 1958 in the areas of the State which immediately before the 1st November, 1956 were comprised in the State of Telangana, and shall come into force in the remaining areas of the State on the date appointed by the Government by a notification such date not being earlier than the date on which an order issued under sub-section
(1) of section 4 of the Inter-State Corporations Act, 1957 (Central Act 38 of 1957), takes effect.
2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-
(i) ‘Board’ means the 2Telangana Khadi and Village Industries Board constituted under section 3;

Short title, extent and commencement.

2 [Act No. IV of 1959] 3[(ii) ‘Commission’ means the Khadi and Village Industries Commission established under section 4 of the Khadi & Village Industries Commission Act, 1956, (Central Act 61 of 1956);]
(iii) ‘Chairman’, 4[xxx] 5[‘Vice-Chairman’], ‘Chief Executive Officer’ and ‘Member’ means respectively the Chairman, 4[xxx], 5[Vice-Chairman] and Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board;

(iv) ‘Government’ means the State Government of 7Telangana;
(v) ‘Khadi’ means any cloth woven on handlooms in India from cotton, silk or woollen yarn hand spun in India or from a mixture of any two or all of such yarns;
(vi) ‘notification’ means a notification published in the 7Telangana Gazette;
(vii) ‘prescribed’ means prescribed by rules made under this Act;
(viii) ‘regulations’ means regulations made by the Board under this Act;
(ix) ‘State’ means the State of 7Telangana;

(x) ‘Village Industries’ means all or any of the industries which form the normal occupation, whether whole time or part time, of any class of the rural population of the State and includes any other industry which the Government may, of their own motion or on the recommendation of the Board, declare by notification to be a village industry for the purposes of this Act; but does not include any of the industries specified in the Schedule to the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 (Central Act 65 of 1951).
