(1) Out of the total number of offices of Chairpersons in the State, 50 percent of the seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, and the reservations for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes shall be made in proportion of the population of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to total population of all the Municipal councils in the State and to Backward Classes, so that the total reservations shall not Emergency powers of the Chairperson.

(2) (a) 50% of the total number of offices of Chairperson reserved for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes under sub- section (1) shall be reserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, or the Backward Classes respectively, in the manner prescribed;
(b) 50% of the total number of offices, including the number of offices reserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes under sub-section (2) (a) shall be reserved for women in the manner prescribed.
(3) The reservation referred in sub-sections (1), (2) (a) and (2)(b) shall be made by rotation to different Municipalities in the manner prescribed 1 2[xxx].
