(1) Where the office of the Chairperson falls vacant, the Vice-Chairperson shall perform the functions of the Chairperson until a new Chairperson is elected and assumes the office. Immediately on the occurrence of such vacancy, the Commissioner shall notify the vacancy to the State Election Commission to conduct elections for the vacancy of the office of the Chairperson.

(2) Where the office of the Chairperson is vacant and there is vacancy in the office of the Vice-Chairperson, or the Vice-Chairperson has been continuously absent from the jurisdiction for more than fifteen (15) days, or is incapacitated for any reason for more than fifteen (15) days, the person authorized by the Government or the District Collector, shall, notwithstanding anything in this Act or in the Postponement of casual elections to the office of Chairperson, Vice­ Chairperson and Members.

35. All elections of members, Chairperson, and Vice­ Chairperson shall be notified, in the prescribed manner.
