Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement.

(1) This Act may be called the Telangana SIum Improvement (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1956.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Telangana.

(3) It shall come into force [in any municipal corporation or municipality in the State] on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Telangana Gazette appoint:

Provided that, before issuing such notification the Government shall publish in the Telangana Gazette, a notice of their intention to do so, fix a period which shall not be less than two months from the date of publication of the notice [for the municipal corporation or the municipality concerned] to show cause against the issue of the notification and consider its objections, if any.
