Section 10: Powers of prescribed authority.

The Telangana SIum Improvement (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1956.State Act of Telangana · Act 33 of 1956

(1) The prescribed authority may, with a view to carrying out the purposes of section 5 or section 6 or section 7, by order, require any person to furnish such information in his possession relating to any land which is acquired under this Act as may be specified in such order.

(2) The prescribed authority shall, while holding an inquiry under sub-section (3) of section 6, have all the powers of a civil court, while trying a suit, under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 in respect of the following matters, namely:-

(a) summoning and enforcing the attendance of any person, and examining him on oath;

(b) requiring the discovery and production of any document;

(c) reception of evidence on affidavits;

(d) requisitioning any public record from any court or office;

(e) issuing commissions for examination of witnesses.
