The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Ordinance, 1997.Ordinance · 1997

(1) The Chairperson shall have powers of general superintendence and directions in the conduct of the affairs of the Authority and he .shall, in addition to presiding over the meetings of the Authority, exercise and discharge such power, and functions of the Authority and shall discharge such other powers and functions as mav be prescribed.

(2) The Central Government may appoint one of the members to be a Vice- Chairperson of the Authority who shall exercise and discharge such powers and functions of die Chairperson as may be prescribed or ns may be delegated to him by the Authority, Removal of members from office in certain circumstances.

7. The Central Government may remove from office any mernbei, who—

(a) has been adjudged an insoNent: or

(b) has been convicted of an offence which, in the opinion of the Ceninil GovemivKnt. involves moral turpitude: or

(d) has acquired such financial or other interest as is likely to affect prejudicially his functions as a member; or

(e) has so abused his position as to render his continuance in office prejudicial to the public interest.
