Tripura Cooperative Societies Rules 1976 with AmendmendState Rules of Tripura · 1974

(1) After registration of a society, the Registrar shall classify the society into one or other of the following classes and sub-classes of society prescribed below according to the principal object provided in its bye-laws :--- Class Sub Class Example of societies falling in the class or subclass, as the case may be.

(1) Agricultural Marketing Society All Marketing Societies and all Purchase and Sale Societies of agricultural produce.

(2) Consumers’ society Stores, Canteen and all Non-Agricultural Purchase and Sale Societies.

(3) Co-Operative Bank

(a) State Co-Operative Bank.

(b) Central Cooperative Bank.

(c) Other Banks.

State Co-Operative Banks, District Central Banks, Land Development Banks and Other banks having First bye-laws of a society.

Classification and Sub- Classification of societies.

(4) Farming Society (a) Collective Farming Society.

(b) Joint Farming Society.

Farming Societies where major area of land is acquired from outside agency for cultivation by members.

Societies where the major area of land brought together for cultivation is held by members.

(5) Housing Society (a) Tenant Ownership Housing Society.

(b) Tenants Copartnership Housing Societies.

(c) Other Housing Societies.

Housing Societies where land is held either on lease-hold or free-hold basis by societies and houses are owned or are to be owned by members.

Housing Societies which held both land and buildings either on leasehold or free-hold basis and all of them to their members.

House Mortgage Societies and House Construction Societies.

(6) Processing Society

(a) Agricultural Processing Society.

(b) Industrial Processing Society.

Societies which process agricultural produce like Co-operative paddyginning, fruit-canning societies;

Tanners’ Co-operative Society.

(7) Producers’ Society

(a) Industrial Producers’ Society.

(b) Labourers’ Industrial Society.

(c) Agricultural producers’ Society.

Weavers’, Carpenters, Potters, Tailors, Brassmaker’s Societies.

Forest Labourers’ Societies and Labour Contract Societies.

Cattle-breading, Poultry, Dairy and Piggery Societies.

(8) Resource Society.

(a) Credit Resource Society.

(b) Non-credit Resource Society.

(c) Service Resource Society.

Agricultural Credit, Thrift and Urban Credit Societies.

Seeds and Implements and Agricultural Requirements Societies.

Service Cooperatives and Multipurpose Cooperative Societies.

(9) General Society. (a) Social.

(b) Commercial.

(c) Others.

Better Living Societies and Education Societies.

Insurance and Motor Transport Societies.

Not falling in either of the above sub-classes.

(2) If the Registrar alters the classification of a society from one class of society to another, or from one sub-class thereof to another, he shall issue to the society a copy of his order as in the case of an amendment of the bye-laws.
