Besides the Central Pension, many State Governments are also giving State Pension . to Freedom Fighters residing in their States. Freedom Fighters pem nently residing in the State of Tripura have also been demanding State Pension since long. State Government has now decided to grant State Pension at the rate of Rs. 100/- per month with effect from lst January. 1992 to each of the Freedom Fighters residing in the State of Tripura who are in receipt of Central Pension. ,. The Governor of Tripnra has been pleased to frame the following Rules to regulate the grant of State Freedom Fighters Pension to the Freedom Fighters and their dependents residing in the State of Tripura. 3,
1. SHORT TITLE AND COMIMENCEMENT. ' (a) These Rules may be ealled "The Tripura Freedom Fighters Pension. —‘ Rules, 1992". _ , _

2. APPLICABILITY. Save as otherwise provided by or under these Rules. These Rules shall apply to:— - _A . _ (a) Freedom Fighters who are drawing pension under the Central ‘ I Pension Scheme. "

(c) Freedom Fighters and their widows or their tin-married an» employed daughters covered under these Rules should be permanent residents of the State of Trig“; ‘
(d) Where there are two or more applicants claiming relationship with the deceased Freedom Fighter, the total amount of pension to all of then: shall be limited to Rs. 100/- per month.
3. DEFINITION. In these Rules, unless the context otherwise mm3—l
(a) “Governor” means" the MrItgtItintra.
(b) “State" means the Government of the State of Tripura.
(c) “Central Pension” means pension sanctioned by the Government of India to the Freedom Fighter from Central Government Revenues under Freedom Fighters Pension Scheme, 1972 now renamed as Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme, 1980.

10. A pension sanctioned under these Rules shall be cancelled with rottomctive oflcct it it is found that sanction was given on mistaken groundsoranfaheclaunsmadebytheopphcant. Therecovcryof the , wrongly drawn amount of pension in regard to persons who were song.- tioned on mistaken grounds will be waived by the State Government. 11. (a) The pension sanctioned under the Rule shall be payable also when the pensioner leaves the State after sanction of pension to res:'de in another State in the Country either temporarily or perma— nrntly. In such cases, the pensioner shall intimate the sanctiouing authority sufficiently in advance his intention to leave the State and _ gixe the correct address of residence outside the State. but within 11*- country. In such cases the pensioner shall su‘miit to the sanctinning authority and the Accountant General. Tripura a life certifit te once in a year. 1b) The Pension is liable to be suspended if the pensioner leaves india far short or long periods In such cases, the pension suspended may be revived on his return to his native place and arrears paid for entire period. The pensioner shall intimate his intention to leave Irdia sufficiently early to the Political Dapamtent, GOVernment of Tripura specifying the date on which he desires to leave India. Similady, he shall also intimate his intention to return to his native place sufliciently early specifying the date of return.
12. PROCEDURE-410W TO APPLY. The persons who are entitled to State pension under these Rules rhould apply in the prescribed form affixing passport size photo Fcrm duly filled and supported by documents should be sent to the Secretary to the Government of Tripura, Political Department, Civil Secretariat, Agartala. Form may be had from Political Department, Office of the All District Magistrates/Sub—Divisional Officers free of cost. The applicants should furnish documents indicated below with the applications :—

On receipt of sanction orderLth'e’ Accountant General, Tripurawill issue P.P.O. authorising the concerned Treasury Oflioer to makepayment of the pension to the grantee through Treasury or autho-rised Bank as may he opted by the grantee in writing on productionof identification documents which will consist of:— . 1) Joint photograph (4 copies duly attested by a Magistrate], Gazetted Officer). ‘Ly; 2) Identification _marks. _4 ‘ ‘3) Specimen signature or left thumb impression duly attested bya Magistrate/Gazetted;0flcer. _ _ H j . ‘4) Date of Birth ‘5) Nomination. , On furnishing these documents. the Treasury will cunmence pay-ment of pension
15. This pension Rules permit drawal of pension throughTreasury or through authorised Bank.
16. Excep‘. in case of un-married daughters. the pension is for:the life time of the recipient. In the we of un—married daughters,pension/ceases immediately after they are married or become other-wise independent. In the case of death of a pensioner. his/her spousethough otherwise eligible for pension will automatically succeededto such pension. They shall have to apply with proof of death of thepensioner to the pension Disbursing Officer for issuing the pensionto the spouse of the deceased.
