39. Power for production of documents, etc. -

(1) Subject to any conditions or restrictions that may be prescribed, the Director of Consolidation, Deputy Director of Consolidation, Settlement Officer Consolidation, Consolidation Officer or Assistant Consolidation Officer may, by written order, require any person to produce such documents, papers and registers or to furnish such information as he may deem necessary for the proper exercise of his powers or the proper discharge of his duties under this Act.

(2) Every person required to produce any document, paper or register or to furnish an information, under this section shall be deemed legally bound to do so within the meaning of Sections 175 and 176 of the Indian Penal Code,1860 ( Act No. 45 of 1860).
