Section 5: Terms of office of Chairman and other members

The Uttar Pradesh Development Council Act, 2006State Act of Uttar Pradesh · Act 11 of 2006

(1) The Chairman of the Council shall hold office for 5 years unless his term is determined earlier by the State Government by notification in the Gazette and shall be eligible for reappointment.

(2) A person nominated under clause (n) of sub-section (1) of section 4 shall, unless his term is determined earlier by the State Government by order, continue to be a member for a period of 5 year and shall be eligible for re-nomination.

(3) The Chairman or any other member referred to in subsections (1) and (2) may at any time by writing under his hand addressed to the State Government resign his office or membership, and/or such resignation being accepted, he shall be deemed to have vacated his office.

(4) The Chairman and the members referred to in sub-section (2) shall be honorary.
