(1) For the purpose of providing adequate number of officers and staff for meeting the needs of fire service, having regard to the population, potential fire hazards in certain industries and large commercial and mercantile establishments and buildings and fire stations required to be provided for and maintained, the State Government may, for the purpose of securing fire prevention and life safety measures within the State, by notification in the Official Gazette, constitute as many Fire Stations and other field formations as it deems fit.
(2) Every notification issued under sub-section (1) shall define the limits of the Fire Stations and other field formations to which it relates and shall define the limits and extent of Fire Stations and other field formations as may be necessary for administrative and operational efficiency.
