In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires:-
(a) "Academic Council", means the Academic Council of the University constituted under section 24;
(b) "Academic Staff" means such categories of staff as are designated by the Statutes to be the academic staff of the University;
(c) "Board of Management" means the Board of Management of the University constituted under section 22;
(d) "Campus" means the unit established or constituted by the University for making arrangements for instruction or research or both;
(e) "Chancellor", "Vice-Chancellor" and "Pro-Vice-Chancellor" means, respectively the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University;
(f) "Court" means the Court of the University constituted under section 20;
(g) "Department" means as department of studies of the University to be constituted, under the provision of section 27;
(h) "Employee" means an employee of the University;
(i) "Existing Employee" means an employee of the erstwhile Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College who becomes an employee of the University under the provisions of sub-section (4) of section 5;
(j) "Finance Committee" means the Finance Committee of the University constituted under section 26;
(k) Hall or Hostel means a unit of resident or of the University constituted under section 26
(l) "Misconduct" means a misconduct prescribed by the Statutes;
(m) "Prescribed" means prescribed by the Statutes of the University;
(n) "Register" means the Register of the University appointed under section 15;
(o) "Statutes", "Ordinances" or "Regulations" means respectively, the Statutes, Ordinance or Regulations of the University appointed under section 15;
(p) "University" means the Mohan Malaviya University of Technology established under section 4;
(q) "University teachers" means Professor, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and such other persons as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research in the University, and are designated as teachers by the Statutes.
