235. (1) Where a person proposes to construct a drain, the [Municipal Commissioner] may, if he considers that the proposed drain is or is likely to be needed to form part of a general drainage system which the [Corporation] has provided or proposes to provide, require him to construct the drain in a manner differing, as regards material or size of pipes, depth, fall, direction or outfall or otherwise from the manner in which he proposes to construct, and thereupon it shall be the duty of such person to comply with the requisition of the [Municipal Commissioner].

(2) The [Municipal Commissioner] shall reimburse from the [Corporation] Fund to the person constructing a drain in accordance with sub-section (1), the extra expenditure reasonably incurred by him in complying with the requisition and until the drain becomes a [Corporation] drain, he shall also from time to time reimburse to him from the [Corporation] Fund so much of any expenses reasonably incurred by him in repairing or maintaining it as may be attributable to the requisition having been made and complied with.
